College and Career Readiness Instructor (BSEP English/Math)

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this full-time position located at the FTCC site on the Fort Liberty military base. Qualified candidates must possess the ability to effectively teach a BSEP Math course of instruction for a face-to-face class related to preparation for the Armed Forces Classification Test, including but not limited to building vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, teaching basic grammar, and teaching basic arithmetic reasoning concepts focusing on word problems, as well as teaching pre-algebra and related math topics.
 
The Basic Skills Education Program Lead Instructor will be a faculty position encompassing administrative and supervisory responsibilities along with teaching Math at Fort Liberty. The Lead Instructor must be able to successfully teach the MATH BSEP curriculum. As a part of the College and Career Readiness leadership team, the BSEP lead instructor will attend meetings, training sessions, and workshops as needed, also meeting with the FTCC Compliance Officer to address issues with BSEP attendance records and other questions. The BSEP lead instructor serves as the liaison between BSEP and the Fort Liberty Education and Training Center, working closely with the Army Continuing Education Services BSEP Program Manager and the Test Control Officer, as well as the Education Services Officer overseeing the Fort Liberty Education Center. The lead instructor will provide designated LTEC staff with monthly reports and class rosters, attend meetings as needed, and function as the point of contact for L TEC staff on issues pertaining to BSEP. In addition to teaching, the BSEP lead instructor will supervise BSEP instructors, track their attendance, perform classroom observations. The Lead instructor will conduct periodic evaluations with BSEP faculty, both formal and informal, and is responsible for completing the annual Employee Performance Appraisal for full-time instructors. The lead instructor will plan the class schedule a year in advance, balancing the state fiscal year (July-June) with the federal fiscal year (October-September), as well as state holidays and federal holidays.
 

Candidates must demonstrate expertise in subject content, program planning, curriculum design, and teaching methodologies and strategies. Eligible candidates will also possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of a career that includes flexible work experiences and a willingness to change; be open-minded, fair, and possess the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university and a minimum of three years’ teaching experience at the college level or adult level. In-depth knowledge of the subject area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience with adults in a community college setting. Online teaching experience and familiarity with Canvas.
