Fayetteville Technical Community College is recruiting for a new member to join our Advising Team and now accepting applications for a full-time Academic Advisor!

The Academic Advisor is a member of the Academic Advising Team and is responsible for providing appropriate academic and transitional support to students in a holistic manner. The primary focus of this role is to develop relationships with students and guide them through course selection, academic planning, and personal development.


Essential Duties—Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Advise first year students on course selection and academic planning, aligning with their educational goals and degree requirements.
  • Assist first year students in understanding academic policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and promoting student success.
  • Monitor student progress and identify at-risk students, providing timely intervention strategies and resources.
  • Collaborate with faculty and other support staff to coordinate student support services, including tutoring, mentoring, and career services.
  • Develop and maintain accurate student records in accordance with institutional policies and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Key Performance Indicators:
 
  • Achieve a high student retention rate for first-year students by providing comprehensive onboarding, continuous support, and early intervention strategies.
  • Efficiently advise an assigned number of students per semester, fostering meaningful connections and guiding them through academic and personal development.
  • Consistently maintain a high percentage of students reporting satisfaction with their advising experience through personalized attention, clear communication, and goal-oriented guidance.
  • Effectively coordinate and promote mandatory advising sessions, ensuring strong attendance rates and active engagement from students.
  • Contribute to a high conversion rate of admitted students to enrollment through tailored outreach, efficient onboarding, and the establishment of clear academic pathways.
  • Encourage and facilitate early course registration among advisees.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, behavioral science, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of increasingly responsible academic, career, and personal coaching and advising experience or other relevant instructional coaching responsibilities.
?Preferred Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the financial aid process.
  • Experience developing and maintaining a learner-centered and culturally responsive approach to advising and case management for new and continuing students.
  • Experience with advising students holistically throughout the entire college experience.
  • Experience supporting students’ progression toward their educational and career goals through the use of various evidence-based strategies.
