Director of Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Small Business

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking a dynamic, community-focused leader to serve as Director of the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Small Business (CIESB). This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping others launch, grow, and sustain successful businesses while making a meaningful impact in the local economy.
 
The Director plays a vital role in advancing economic mobility in Cumberland County by providing education, training, counseling, and technical assistance to aspiring and existing business owners. This role also works collaboratively across the college to connect entrepreneurship with workforce development initiatives, strengthening pathways for students and the community.
 
We are looking for someone who brings an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to build relationships across diverse populations, with a background in small business development.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in small business development, business ownership, or a related leadership capacity, including experience in corporate, small business, or startup environments with responsibility for financial and operational decision-making (e.g., budgeting, P&L oversight, or similar functions).
  • Ability to comply with and uphold all NC State Small Business Center Network (SBCN) Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Agreements, as well as applicable SBCN and FTCC policies, processes, and standards.
  • Disclosure of having served as a principal officer or owner of any business that filed for bankruptcy within the past seven (7) years is required.
  • Communication, both oral and written, skills necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a range of digital media and communication platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or related field.
  • Experience starting, launching, or scaling a business or organization.
