Make a Splash and a Difference: YMCA Is Hiring Lifeguards & Swim Instructors to Protect Lives This Summer
As Water Safety Month Approaches, YMCA of the Sandhills
recruits staff to keep families safe
YMCA of the Sandhills is hiring swim instructors and American Red Cross Certified lifeguards for the summer at its Cameron and Fayetteville locations. These positions go beyond the pool; they’re about saving lives, teaching confidence and creating connections that ripple through the community.
“At the Y, our aquatics team plays a vital role in the community. They’re the reason parents feel confident, kids feel safe, and our community is safer and stronger. Lifeguards protect lives. Instructors teach skills that last a lifetime. And everyone on deck helps make the Y a place where people feel like they belong,” said Shay Miller, Aquatics Director for the Y. Drowning is the leading cause of death for children under 18, and is the top cause of death for children aged 1-4. Working for the Y’s aquatics program helps prevent needless accidents, and swim instructors provide children, teens and adults with a lifetime skill for safety around water.
The Y is hiring for multiple positions. Swim instructors and lifeguards ready to work starting in May are invited to apply at ymcaofthesandhills.org/employment. Lifeguards must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, and all aquatics positions have a minimum age of 16.
The Y is celebrating Water Safety Month all month long in May for those currently enrolled in swim lessons at the Y, and everyone can learn more about how to keep safe around water at the Y’s website https://ymcaofthesandhills.org/swimming/water-safety.
