Government Relations Committee Meeting

Government Relations Committee Meeting

Tuesday, September 8, 2026 (4:00 PM - 5:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

The Greater Fayetteville Chamber Government Relations Committee reviews legislation of importance to business at the local, regional, state and federal levels and recommends position statements to the Greater Fayetteville Chamber Board of Directors. Once adopted, the Greater Fayetteville Chamber is then able to take positions on issues, issue press releases, give public comment, write letters and otherwise engage to educate legislators, members and the public about the legislation. The group also plans candidate forums and other topics of legislative interest. Any Chamber member can participate in the Greater Fayetteville Chamber Government Relations Committee.

About our Guest Speaker:

Senator Tom McInnis serves in the North Carolina State Senate, representing District 21, which includes Moore and Cumberland counties. Currently in his sixth legislative term, McInnis acts as the Chair of the Senate Finance Committee.

Raised in a working-class farming family in Richmond County, he worked his way through school to become a successful small business owner, co-founding the Iron Horse Auction Company. In the legislature, his policy priorities focus heavily on reducing government overregulation, expanding technical and vocational education, increasing teacher pay, and aggressively combatting the illegal opioid crisis.
