MRH-Hoke Expands Surgical Options with Advanced Ophthalmology Services
RAEFORD—FirstHealth of the Carolinas is pleased to announce the expansion of surgical services at Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke with the addition of advanced ophthalmology surgeries provided by board certified ophthalmologist Andrew Coggin, M.D. Dr. Coggin brings a wealth of expertise to the community, specializing in a range of surgical procedures that address both common and complex eye conditions.
Dr. Coggin specializes in cataract surgery with premium intraocular lenses. These lenses allow patients to see at both distance and near after surgery, reducing the need for glasses. For patients without cataracts who want to reduce or eliminate their dependency on glasses, Dr. Coggin performs refractive lens exchange.
He also offers advanced care for glaucoma patients through minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, which reduces intraocular pressure and slows the progression of the disease. Additionally, Dr. Coggin performs pterygium excision to remove sun-damaged tissue from the surface of the eye.
For younger patients seeking a fully reversible treatment to eliminate the need for glasses, Dr. Coggin surgically inserts the EVO ICL (implantable collamer lens). “This procedure has gained popularity, with notable public figures, including two of the Jonas brothers, opting for this treatment,” Coggin said.
Dr. Coggin earned his undergraduate degrees from the University of Florida, where he received a B.S. in microbiology and cell science, and a B.A. in Spanish. He earned a medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed both his internship and residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Dr. Coggin is currently accepting patients at Pinehurst Surgical Clinic-Ophthalmology, located at 3716 Morganton Road in Fayetteville. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (910) 725-7985.
