TIME-OF-USE SUMMER PEAK HOURS START IN APRIL

Fayetteville, N.C.- Summer Peak Hours for electric customers begin on April 1. From April through the end of October, Peak electric hours are 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., seven days a week (including holidays). During this time, energy demand is the highest and costs more for PWC to buy from Duke Energy. Customers can save money by shifting as much electric use as possible to Off-Peak hours, which costs about 35% less than On-Peak hours.

Tips to reduce energy use during Peak hours:

  • Adjust your thermostat: Raise it up a few degrees in warm weather to help reduce cooling costs.
  • Use Off-Peak hours: Run dishwashers and wash or dry laundry outside of Peak hours.
  • Use cold water settings for laundry.
  • Limit heat-generating appliances: Reduce use of ovens, clothes dryers, and similar appliances.
  • Unplug electronics when they are not in use.
  • Consider smart appliances that allow you to schedule energy use during Off-Peak hours.
  • Customers can take advantage of PWC’s customer incentive programs at www.FayPWC.com/Residential-Programs

PWC Super Off-Peak Rate
Customers enrolled in PWC’s Whole Home/Super Off-Peak Rate will continue to have Super Off-Peak hours from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. This optional rate can help customers save money by scheduling high-energy activities, such as charging an electrical vehicle, during late-night hours.

Customers can find additional energy-saving tips, learn more about Time-of-Use rates, and learn about the Whole Home/Super Off-Peak rate at www.FayPWC.com/Time-of-Use-Rates.
