Fayetteville State University is a historically black college located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It is part of the University of North Carolina system. Founded in 1867, Fayetteville State is the second-oldest public college in the state. Just outside the Sandhills in southeastern North Carolina's Coastal Plain, Fayetteville is a large metropolitan area. Fort Bragg military base is located in Fayetteville.
Fayetteville State University offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The school is well known for producing a large number of minority graduates, particularly in the fields of psychology, education, mathematics, computer science, history, and social sciences. A low student-to-faculty ratio ensures that each student receives personalized attention.
