John graduated from the University of North Carolina’s School of Pharmacy in 1975 and worked for several years for a couple of retail drugstore chains and independent pharmacies. In 2003, John used his years of experience to bring the good aspects of different companies he worked for along with his own ideas when he and his sons, Jeremy and Kris, decided to open Cape Fear Discount Drugs in Highland Centre. They wanted to provide outstanding customer service along with short wait times for their customers while giving them the feeling of their old fashioned drugstore they grew up with. This proved to be so successful that they opened up the Ramsey Street location in 2009, and a third location in Hope Mills in 2018.

John passed away in 2018 but his sons continue the family business with a focus on providing the best service in the Cape Fear Region.
