About Us

BrighterStill is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free eLearning courses that cover basic life skills, soft skills, and leadership training for learners of all ages and education levels. BrighterStill courses are available to those transitioning from homelessness, individuals reentering society, youth, and any interested community members. Between 2024-2026, BrighterStill intends to activate its "real estate arm" by providing housing to youth aging out of foster care, which will allow them to receive structured life skills training, mentorship, social support, and affordable housing.

BrighterStill was founded in 2020 by community advocate and licensed Realtor, M. Semone Pemberton. Pemberton, well-respected in Cumberland County, was appointed to the Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commission in October 2019. She served two terms as Chairwoman and in, February 2023, was named Commissioner of the Year. Outside of the Commission, Pemberton is heavily invested in the betterment of the community. In addition to this, Pemberton is an active board member of the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Continuum of Care, a homelessness prevention and intervention organization, and CityView News Fund. You will also find her supporting various causes of other community organizations and churches.
